Training dates for Nanny Ofsted registration

October 8, 2018 by Margaret Cowell

Are you wishing to become Ofsted registered Nanny ?

Do you believe in Professionalism in your Nanny Practice ?

Would you like to have Continued Professional Development (CPD) ?

Nanny Training Link is here to offer all the above to you.

Margaret is NNEB with over 30 years of working with families and children.  In addition have become a professional trainer gaining DET (Diploma in Education and Teaching) at Canterbury Christchurch University July 2018.

What is our training about:

Margaret ensures that her training courses are informal, interactive, and case-study based; although the courses cover theoretical approaches to childcare (including latest trends and developments), the emphasis is very much on the sharing of ideas and real-life experiences so that trainees leave with more than simple concepts but -more usefully- training that is relevant and directly related to real world scenarios.

Ofsted requires 6 sections:

We check your qualifications and experience and will access your requirements:

  • M1 -Understanding the role of the nanny
  • M2 -introduction to Early Years Foundation Stage
  • M3 -Child development
  • M4 -Providing healthy meals
  • M5 -Maintaining professional relationships
  • M6 -Health and safety and secure environments

For instance a Nursery Nurse wishing to become a nanny often benefits with CPD in planning healthy meals, activities working as a nanny and Health and safety when becoming a nanny.  So you may need to only take certain areas in more depth once we ascertain your understanding of the other modules due to qualification and experience.  Please ask.

We can help you in many ways to train:

  1. Via links, such as video link, communication face time, emails so that you can work from home but train with us.
  2. Through our specific work shop dates

Our training is to assist you in YOUR learning needs which is why we speak to every individual and your learning is tailored for you.

Nanny training link would prefer to train one person at a time rather than wait for a group booking as we know this will enhance the professionalism of nannies by having more people training. So if a date is not convenient to you speak to us and we can organise one:one training it is fine that is what we do.

So if your are:

  1. Wishing to source a new career
  2. Wanting to move from Nursery to Nanny work
  3. Au pair to Nanny
  4. Or wish update your portfolio and gain up to date certificate

We can help:

Training commences at £23.00 per module. Discounts to groups

Next workshop date:

Saturday 3rd November

Saturday 23rd November

Saturday 1st December

If you cannot make any of these dates just call and we will arrange alternative times in the evening or day time.

Thank you

Margaret

Nanny matters at the conference – Meeting of minds comments

February 8, 2016 by Margaret Cowell

We have had a fantastic day at the “Meeting of Minds”!

Margaret from Nanny Link started us off by introducing us to ANA (Association of Nanny Agencies), the representatives of several nanny agencies from all around the country, First Aid for Life, a first aid course provider and Way to Pay a payroll company.

ANA had some great ideas about working together. Nanny Matters would like to provide ANA with more feedback about nanny life with the ups and downs.

The agencies highlighted their particular struggles and successes. Nanny Matters proposed to stay in close contact to improve recruitment for everyone through honest and straightforward feedback from all of us nannies!  and are encouraging us to give feedback on families, working conditions and pay but also ask to be aware an agency is working long and hard hours to provide the best service. Sometimes enquiries cannot be answered immediately but are always intended to be answered within an acceptable timeframe.

First Aid for Life showed us a 12 hour first aid course can be done in a new and innovative way. Nanny Matters can only recommend them on this!  http://www.firstaidforlife.org.uk/

Way to Pay are worth mentioning for their straight forward approach. If you have any queries they can help with give them a call!

http://www.way2paye.co.uk/

Nanny Matters was able to communicate your feedback gathered from the Nanny Matters meet ups and forums like Dulwich Nannies on Facebook.
We found agencies are in favour of better communication. They would like us to put your views and experiences forward. This is the key to a long and happy relationship between nanny and agency! They are providing aftercare as a standard and want to provide support for nannies who need it.
Nanny Matters is working towards nannies being
-professional by encouraging the use of EYFS curriculum,
-educated through nanny career development,
-confident by knowing their rights and exchanging experiences.

We can only imagine how much easier and more successful finding a fabulous nanny role will be through working together with agencies.

Kind regards, Kathy Landmann at Nanny Matters

Comments from Nanny Link:

We enjoyed having the Nannies being represented and Nanny Link (training) looks forward to working with Nanny Matters in helping with continued professional development with our training programmes.  All the best

Meeting of minds conference comments

February 8, 2016 by Margaret Cowell

I wanted to thank you for a really fabulous meeting yesterday. I was so honoured to be part of such an inspirational group of like-minded people; all really passionate about providing the very best service for Children, Parents and Nannies. We all share exactly the same values and ethos and I am thrilled to be part of such an incredible collaboration.

Please let your members know if there is anything I can do to further help and support everyone, I would be delighted to do so. They can share any of my blog and information and if they email me I will send them a code to give  them free access to have a proper look at the online courses for the blended learning too.

With very best wishes and many thanks again

CV workshop

January 5, 2016 by Margaret Cowell

Young attractive woman during job interview

Need A CV- we hold workshops/ or one to one training  which can help:

Margaret has worked in childcare, personnel and recruitment over a 30 year period and is very experienced in helping people put together information to supply to prospective employers.

A full detailed CV  could make the difference between being offered an interview or not. ( we can offer non childcare candidates help and advice too)

Why is a CV important?

Your CV is like a window to you, your education, experience and abilities. You need to use your CV to sell yourself. Having the right CV that reflects you and what you can offer an employer which will attract attention and appeal to them so highlighting your strengths and ability is very important.

But it needs to be right in information, layout, what your say and how you present this.

So we can guide and help you by offering a workshop and going through the following details

  • Setting up a CV
  • Personal statement – what to write and what not to write
  • Additional details what an employer likes to see over and above just work and education
  • How to adapt a CV for a particular  job role
  • How many CVs you should have?
  • Preparing yourself for the interviews

Course is 2.5 hours outlining what an employer is looking for and how you can setup the master CV and how to make adjustments and why.

Cost: £30.00 ( discount will apply for groups of 3 or more)

Certificate of attendance supplied once the course is completed

Time and location: Greater London, Kent areas. For other areas we will need a minimum group but this is possible so please make enquires.

We can offer remote training via virtual computer if the location is too far for either party to reach
